Our Quality Control

Why Bradison Farms? Because we are fanatical about our quality.

CBD is currently unregulated, so it is extremely important that you trust your farmer and producer.

USDA Organic certification is a multi-year process, and quite frankly, we still have time on the clock before we can achieve it. But that doesn’t stop us from doing it right, in preparation for our future certification. During the wait we need to maintain organic standards otherwise the clock resets to the beginning of the process.

Couple this with the fact that USDA Organic certification appears to be largely an honor based system as evidenced by recent fraud, and reputation becomes even more important.

Below are areas where we think we shine in our attention to detail. Some of these go beyond USDA Organic certification. Some of these may appear trivial or unnecessary, but we think it shows the level of commitment we have to our process, products, and ultimately you our customer.

  • Our farmland was previously used for hunting, not farming. We have no knowledge of pesticide use before our acquisition, but must still wait out the three year requirement.

  • Our soil is tested before planting to ensure that it passes standards for lead, as well as nutrients to ensure a healthy crop.

  • Our crop passed an independent lab test of 59 of the most common pesticides, as well as tests for heavy metals like lead and arsenic.

  • An organic cover crop blankets our field to help with weed control.

We purchase premium hemp seeds from a well established, approved supplier. The strain has has a high concentration of CBD to ensure compliance with standards.

Our seeds begin their life in organic soil with distilled water to ensure they germinate successfully. When they are just a few weeks old, they are transplanted to the field.

Where did your CBD come from?

Indoor growers typically use artificial lights and municipal water. Our crop is raised outdoors with natural rainwater, and bright Wisconsin sunshine.

  • We only use organic fertilizer, both to condition the soil before planting and to treat the individual plants.
  • When pesticide is required, we only use DATCP or USDA approved organic products. The primary ingredient is neam oil.
  • Nothing is applied to our crops once flowering starts. This ensures that our crop is clear of any residue in the weeks proceeding harvest.
  • We rely on manual labor and an organic cover crop instead of chemicals for weed control. It’s more expensive and labor intensive, but we wouldn’t do it any other way.

California’s Prop 65 helps ensure that consumers know what chemicals they are being exposed to in the products they use. They have some of the strictest guidelines in the nation.

Odds are that the garden hose in your yard has either lead or other chemicals like phthalates that might leach into the water that you spray your garden with.

We are rigorous about using products that pass strict California Prop 65 regulations in everything from irrigation hoses, to the netting we use for drying plants.

Our soil is tested before planting.

Our crop is sampled and tested by the government at harvest to ensure that it meets federal standards for CBD.

We also have an independent lab test our harvested crop for microtoxins, microbials, mold, pesticides, and heavy metals.

  • Containers we use for harvested crop storage are food safe.
  • Nitrile (latex free) gloves are used when handling harvested flower.
  • Rubber bands used for binding branches during the drying process are latex free.
  • Hanging trellises are lead free and pass Prop 65 regulations. A lot of processors don’t care, but we prefer if our crop is not touching leaded plastic for a week or more while drying.
  • Our curing process takes weeks. This step is often rushed or neglected by some businesses who are quick to get their product to market.
  • Our dropper glass bottles are lead free, and opaque to preserve the potency of the product’s shelf life.
  • Glass bottles are sterilized upon receipt from the distributor.
  • Our flower packaging is non-toxic.
  • Packaging is tamper evident.

We use organic MCT oil shipped in glass containers from our supplier to prevent any interaction with plastic packaging. MCT is sensitive to certain plastics, so we just prefer to eliminate any doubt from upstream suppliers.

We extract our CBD from the flower using food grade ingredients. No harmful solvents like butane or propane are ever used in our production process.

We do our own processing, so we have complete control of the chain of custody for our products. We personally monitor and oversee every step of the process.
